Williamwood High School – 2001 – 2007

In My 6th Year at Williamwood I was elected Depute Head Boy and was put in charge of “Eco-Schools” This allowed me to make a positive impact on the environmental footprint of our school and has also improved my organisational skills as I was responsible for organising numerous meetings and surveys.

In being a Depute I also took up the roles of First Year Buddy (Advising new members of the school), Peer Tutor (Helping a boy diagnosed with Asbergers syndrome in a French Class), Paired reading (Helping a 2nd year boy with Downs Syndrome) along with assisting at numerous events throughout the year, including tours of the new school building, improving my confidence in speaking to the public.

My extra curricular activities in school were endless, and in my 6th year I was over-run with countless extra events, representing our school and improving my skills in all areas. I was constantly involved in making the most out of my 6th year, helping to organise events such as an “Asian Cultural Evening”, single handedly creating our “Video Yearbook” and attending numerous official functions.

I have taken part in numerous different theatrical oportunities, from the smallest of studio theatres to Glasgow's largest Venue and the worlds largest arts festival.

I have been trained informally and "On The Job" in both lighting design and operation as well as stage management and sound operation. My preferred Lighting desks are Strand 320, Strand 500, ETC Expression 3 and all Zero 88 boards (Fat Frog, Frog, Bullfrog and Jester) but will normally be able to pick up operation and programming of any lighting desk quickly.

Last summer I went on a month long educational expedition to Vietnam with the company World Team Challenge Expeditions with several other people my age. During the month we travelled the length and breadth of the country, and each of us took up the role of leader for 2 days. We were constantly challenged for the month in many ways, including a 5 day trek through mountainous areas and the constant problems of trying to co-operate in a team. My expedition truly changed me in many ways, I discovered new skills, challenged myself physically and mentally and made some of the best friends I have ever had. I feel that the trip also vastly improved my teamwork, leadership and money management skills as well as vastly increasing my confidence.

"I feel that I am an outgoing, adventurous and confident person, able to apply myself to any task which I am given. I am very punctual, reliable and I have a relentless work ethic. I feel that my excellent skills in being both a team member and leader together with my determination to succeed in whatever I do make me an ideal candidate for any area of employment."
